Welcome to the Education section of our new website.

On this section of the website you will find information on exams, fees, Finance, exams, class reps as well as the SU grinds register. If you have any problems or questions about the academic side of life in GMIT, you can contact me by phone or email.

My name is Aaron Burke and I am your Deputy President of Education for the upcoming academic year. After completion of my Honors Bachelor of Business Degree, I look back with fond memories to the friends I’ve made while at GMIT and what I’ve learned and I hope you all have the same experience.

First and foremost, to all our new First Year students: congrats on your results and acceptance to this wonderful college that is GMIT. To those returning for a new year: welcome back. I say wonderful because it is, from the staff to the students and with that it brings the college together as a community which you just don’t quite get from other colleges.

My role is to aid students’ with their academic problems; be it with lecturers, exams, results, SUSI grants or sitting on college boards and committees that will have an active effect on students’ lives in the college.

I am also tasked with running the class rep system. Class reps are an integral part of the Students’ Union and without their representation we would not be able to do our work accordingly. Class reps are elected by you, the students, in your own individual classes to represent your own individual class needs and if you feel like you have the voice and drive to speak up for your class’s interests, become your class rep!!

I would encourage all to partake and get involved in the SU, either as a class rep or giving a hand with the various campaigns that are rolled out during the year or with the various clubs and societies that are available. Becoming actively involved in the SU is a great way to meet individuals with the same interests as you and also can improve your overall college experience.

If you have any questions or need advice don’t hesitate to drop to the office and ask for either Mark, Emma or myself. We will be more than happy to help in any way possible.

All the best with the year ahead,

Aaron Burke

Deputy President for Education
