GMIT 10,000 Step Marchathon

Grab some Friends, Join the Challenge and Win Prizes in the Smartertravelcampus​ #Marchathon 10,000 Step Challenge!

It’s just over a week to go till kick off on the 1st of March – sign your team up now on and join the other GMIT staff & students who have signed up!

The aim of the challenge is to get up, get out and get walking for health, for the commute and for fun!

The launch will be taking place on Monday the 27th of February from 11am-2pm in Union Square and there will be freebies on the day for those who sign up a team.


What do you need to do?

1. Get your team of 3 to 6 people together. Check out the GMITSU team here.
2. All team members should register online (the team captain will register first and set up the team).
3. Decide what device you’ll use to track your steps (e.g. the Smarter Travel Step Counter App available for android and apple devices, an activity tracker, a pedometer or another app of your choice).
Then you’re all set to go! The challenge will run from the 1st to the 31st of March.

At the very least steps must be logged online by all team members by 2pm each Monday in order to be included in the weekly leaderboards but steps can also be entered online daily.

Prizes will be awarded to teams reaching the top of the total steps and the improvement leaderboards.

There are also prize draws throughout the challenge for reaching challenge targets, team photos, story competitions, step to your favourite tune and many more.
